Wedding and Evening Invitation Wording.....
Wedding invitations are
traditionally sent by the bride's parents but nowadays invitations may be from single parents, divorced parents or the couple
themselves. Whatever your circumstances, the appropriate wording for your
wedding can be arranged or if you prefer, you can choose your own wording.
There are some suggestions below and they can be altered to be formal or
informal. Guest names can be printed for a small extra charge.
As a guide, wedding invitations should include these details:
the names of the hosts
the names of the bride and groom
the relationship hosts and bride and groom
the names of guests (if being printed along with invitation there is a small extra charge)
whether the invitation is for the ceremony and reception or evening only
details of the ceremony and reception venue(s), including location, time and date
RSVP details of where they should be sent. Email addressor telephone number can be added
date for RSVP to be returned

Save the Date Wording.....
Wedding invitations are usually sent out about 3 months before the wedding but you may want to notify your guests in advance especially if your wedding coincides with a holiday period.
These can be made in card form or as magnets (stuck to the fridge they have no excuse for forgetting the date!)

Reply Card Wording.....
Traditionally, reply cards are sent to the wedding hosts but sometimes it is more convenient to have the replies sent to the organiser. This may be the wedding planner, the bride and groom or their parents.
You can also use the reply card to ask questions. You may need to know about dietary requirements or ask for a tune they would like played during the evening. This information can be added to the back if necessary.

Information cards are a useful way of providing your guests with information that cannot be added to the invitation. A menu option card can also be made.

Venues: The contact details for the ceremony and reception can be useful if your guests want to ask any questions or book accommodation. Accommodation: A list of local hotels and B&B's and/or details of any special rates you have negotiated with your venue. Directions: Directions to your venue and between your venue and reception are always helpful, especially for guests travelling from further afield. You may also want to include parking facilities. Transport: Details of any transport you are providing. Gifts: Details of where your wedding gift list is held or if you are requesting money or a different donation. Children: A subject to address if you are unable to accommodate children or do not want children to attend your wedding. A carefully worded note on the information card will inform your guests of your wishes without offending (Example 1: We regret that we are unable to accommodate children at our wedding. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Example 2: Unfortunately, due to venue restrictions we are unable to invite children.) Dress Code: This can be included if there are strict rules at your venue or if you choose black tie or a specific theme. What to bring: This is useful if you are getting married abroad or if you are organising specific events. The Weekend: If you are organising a weekend of celebrations, get your guests in the mood and let them know what to expect. |
Order of Service Wording.....
An Order of service refers to the card given out at religious wedding ceremonies. They contain details of the order and content of the ceremony.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the permission to use any material included in your order of service (i.e. poems, hymns and readings)

the names of bride and groom
the ceremony format
